Sex Education renewed for fourth season

September 26, 2021 · By

We just finished binging the third season of Netflix’s popular British teen dramedy, and so of course we’re overly excited that the streamer has already announced a fourth season will be coming. Staring Asa Butterfield and Mimi Keene as two students who start giving out sex advice, and all the hilarity that ensues for the amateur coaches.

Asa plays the character of Otis, who’s mother is a sex therapist (played by Gillian Anderson), but he at first hides that fact that he’s teamed up with x (Emma Mackey) to give out unlicensed sex advice, even though he’s good at it. Otis’ gay best friend Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) is being raised in a very religious Ghanaian-Nigerian family, but manages to be proud and flamboyant. He breaks the heart of one French student, before falling for former bully Adam (Connor Swindells).

But what we want to know of course is what will come of Eric and Adam’s relationship in the next season considering how things were left at the end, and Eric’s revelations! Eric has been breaking hearts over the past three seasons, so it’s no surprise he’s breaking Adam’s, but maybe there’s still hope for the pair.

Seasons one, two and three were each comprised of 8 episodes, normally premiering in January, though something delayed the January 2021 launch of season three. We can likely expect 8 further episodes in season four, but we don’t know yet whether to expect another September release or for a January 2023 launch.
