Everybody’s Talking About Jamie premieres September 17
Included in the Très Gay list of most anticipated films for 2021 is the screen adaptation of the hit UK musical, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and the premiere is now less than a week away.
The screen adaptation appearing September 17 on Amazon Prime Video was directed by the original stage director, Jonathan Butterell, and stars Max Harwood in the titular role. Richard E. (Layton Williams who is currently playing Jamie on stage and on tour, isn’t credited in the cast).
"I’m such a huge fan of drag but I didn’t really realize before doing this role how much goes into it and how much preparation. It was so, so exciting and terrifying at the same time." — @MaxHarwood on trying drag for the first time in #JamieMovie. https://t.co/kWY5S6eOU4 pic.twitter.com/1Io3tlB7R6

What is Everybody’s Talking About Jamie?
When Northern England gay teenager Jamie New decides to become a drag queen he has to find his way into an exciting and unknown world, and seek out a fairy drag-mother to guide him. Based on a true story originally written for the stage, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has had a successful multi-year run in London’s Westend (and soon to return), and now the musical has been adapted for the screen. But you’ll need to wait until later this year for the release, but that’s still sooner than the return to stage.
