Josh Thomas returns to please us in Everything’s Gonna Be Okay

Premiering January 16, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay is Australian comedian Josh Thomas’ newest television project. After wrapping up Please Like me at the end of 2016, Thomas has been working on his next great project. In Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, he plays Australian Nicholas who is over in the US visiting his father and his two teenaged half-sisters. Once there he learns his father is terminally ill and he wants Nicholas to become the girls guardian given their mother died when they were younger.

We also know of the character that Nicholas is an entomologist in his twenties (not a complete stretch for 32-year old Thomas), and apparently the bug thing plays out in the show titles (and graphics). With the father out of the way, Nicholas must now raise his two half-sisters—Matilda, an autistic 17-year old gifted classical musician, and Genevieve, a 14-year old aspiring writer.

Freeform (previously ABC Family), had announced the pilot back in May 2018, and the complete first season order in December 2018. Thomas brings a familiar character style to US audiences, and Nicholas is also gay, leading to him having romantic interests, starting with Alex (played by Adam Faison). The ten episode run begins next week on Freeform, while also appearing a day after on Hulu and Freeform on demand.
