Generation teen dramedy now streaming on HBO Max

March 11, 2021 · By

The newest teen dramedy, Genera+ion, started streaming today on HBO Max, with the first three episodes already available to get you hooked.

Set in Orange County, California, the teen dramedy follows a group of students as they explore their sexuality. And despite this being California, Orange County is a bit conservative.

Just watching the trailer we were excited for this new show to drop, and now three episodes in, the wait was totally worth it. This first three-episode drop model, popular with Apple TV+ originals, creates a three-part premiere that helps build the story and get hooked on the characters, making it a lot easier to come back for more. And Genera+ion is no exception. Go ahead and binge the first three episodes together.

Genera+ion has an amazing cast featuring Justice Smith (Pokemon Detective Pikachu) as Chester, the confident out gay student, Uly Schlesinger (Nathan), Chloe East (Naomi), and Chase Sui Wonders (Riley), plus supporting roles filled by Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (as Sam, a guidance councillor), Martha Plimpton, Sam Trammell (parents of Nathan & Naomi), Anthony Keyvan as Riley’s bad boy ex (Anthony is Rahim in Love, Victor), J. August Richards and John Ross Bowie.

We already know from the premise (so it’s not a spoiler) that Nathan is bisexual and wants to explore being with guys, so there’s going to be some fun and drama with Chester.

The first season run is 16 episodes running from 27 to 39 minutes (thank you streaming platforms) divided into two parts. New episodes for the first half will be released weekly until April 1, then the second half will continue later this spring. While it’s only the first day, no word yet on a second season.
